What work oppression sounds like

This is what work oppression sounds like:

My boss said they’ll consider a salary increase in 6 months and told me not to interview anywhere else in the meantime.

I never knew I could ask for more money or anything. I always accepted the first offer.

I didn’t want to rock the boat at work, so I kept quiet about how miserable I was.

I am so burned out, but feel guilty for looking elsewhere and leaving my team with all of my responsibilties.

I was grateful to have a job, so I stuck it out even though I knew I was severely underpaid.

I hear these statements all the time. From mid to senior-level leaders. Women. BIPOC. And to be honest, this was me for many years. While you might not be able to break apart oppressive workplace cultures completely, you have it in you to interrupt them. It starts with a mindset shift and a bit of courage.

My clients have done it.

Unpaid clients who follow me on social, subscribe to my newsletter, or attend my free workshops have shared results. Here are a few worth mentioning:

  • Jess negotiated, for the first time ever, and got a 50% increase in her hourly rate on a freelance copywriting project.

  • Morgan negotiated a paid 12-week sabbatical for mental wellness, just as she was evaluating whether to leave or stay at her tech job.

  • Ha was approved to work remote permanently, despite fearing backlash. Not only was her boss supportive, she now feels more respect from him, for speaking up.

  • Kate secured a path from sales to data analytics from her CFO, along with mentors to shadow and a clear development plan for the next 6 months.

Those who have taken my Clarity + Confidence Course, a 6-week training and 1:1 coaching program, have experienced an accelerated level of growth. Check out these wins:

  • Tiyana successfully negotiated a part-time, 3-day work week, so she can spend a day with her baby and a day on self-care.

  • Sree landed a Senior Product Manager job at a Fortune 50, increasing her salary by 75% after 5 years with a company she felt no longer wanted to invest in her.

  • Veronica swooped up a Head of Creative role and landed a freelance marketing project at an hourly rate that’s 194% more than her last.

  • Melissa secured a Director title and increased her salary by 80% from 1 year ago, after being turned down three times by the company.

These are everyday folks who have decided to interrupt the cycle of workplace oppression to create change for themselves — and trailblaze for others.

I can guide you on how to do this.
