She got her groove back.

We all go through challenging times.

When everything seems to be falling apart and there are zero signs of it getting better.

And of course, we turn to social media in search of inspiration. And though we know everything’s highly filtered and unrealistic, we still convince ourselves that everyone’s doing great. And our lives suck.

This was me a few months ago.

Multiple events took a toll on me — from health issues to business upsets to resurfacing trauma. Also, I never knew how intense it is to process trauma when your kids are at the age you were when it happened. It’s heavy! And the weight of current events was so overwhelming. I was in deep and couldn’t pull myself back up.

A much-needed reset.

My coach reminded me that life, especially as an entrepreneur, will be full of ups and downs. And it’s up to me to choose whether to stay down or find a way back up.

I really wasn’t trying to be down in the dumps, so I gave myself permission to feel sorry for myself and then made commitments to…

Improve my diet and exercise. When I feel down, my eating and drinking habits are usually all out of whack. So I ate healthier, gave up alcohol, and prioritized moving my body. I started bouldering with my 6-year-old and running again. On one of those runs a few miles in, I broke down in tears. Afterward, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off me. It was exactly what I needed.

Prioritize rest and self-care. I was not getting any sleep during this time, so I started making sure I prioritized a nighttime routine, getting 8 hours, and carved out time for reading, reflecting, writing, goofing off with my kids, and a bit of binge-watching. These things all add up!

Invest in myself. Growing up with immigrant parents, it always felt irresponsible to spend money on myself, but knew I had to. I re-upped my contract with my business coach, committed to consistent inner-child healing practices with my therapist, got a new haircut, bought some new outfits, and booked my FIRST professional solo photoshoot. I also upgraded to better systems to help me streamline and scale my business.

Refocus my priorities. I took a step back and reflected on all the decisions I made this year and realized that I had been spreading myself way too thin, focusing on shiny new objects instead of my core products and content. I was also distracted by a failed attempt at a business partnership and worried about losing a client.

Finally got my groove back.

It was the first time since starting Wildlight that I ever considered throwing in the towel, all because of how horrible I felt in those collective moments. But I knew I had to practice what I preached — to reset and realign. As a result, I’ve gotten my groove back! My relationships improved, I got away for a mini vacation, and have already tripled my revenue from the previous quarter

My values and purpose also became so much clearer to me — to help women find clarity and confidence in their careers while owning a flexible schedule so that I can be completely present with my kids.

You can too.

If you are going through a professional funk, give the above steps for a mini reset a try. If you want to go deeper so that you can realign to your purpose and climb up professionally, book a free sales call with me.

I’d love to be that coach for you — like mine was for me.
